The Stanley Cup odds from our best NHL betting sites fluctuate significantly with every game played, and the first team has finally fallen in the second round as we head closer to conference finals.

The Dallas Stars and Florida Panthers both took care of business in the second round to advance to the conference finals in the NHL playoffs. They remain the favorites to take home the Stanley Cup across our best sports betting sites.

The Carolina Hurricanes long held the favorite role, but the New York Rangers knocked them out in the second round with a Game 6 victory on Thursday. With the Panthers beating the Boston Bruins in Game 6 to take the series on Friday, Florida will play the Rangers in the Eastern Conference Final.

In the West, the Stars took down the Colorado Avalanche in Game 6 with a 2-1 overtime win to advance to the conference finals. They await the winner of the Vancouver Canucks-Edmonton Oilers series, which will go to a decisive Game 7 on Monday.

We're breaking down the latest Stanley Cup odds below.

2024 Stanley Cup favorites

Stars (+250 via bet365)

The Stars have been all over the oddsboard since the postseason began. They opened the postseason at +900, quickly found themselves down 2-0 to the Vegas Golden Knights and plummeted, however, Dallas rallied on the road and turned the tides on the series.

Dallas plummeted again to start the second round, dropping their opener to the Avalanche. They surged to the top of the oddsboard heading into Wednesday's game with the Avs, but a disastrous third period saw them fall 5-2 as Colorado staved off elimination.

However, Dallas rebounded nicely in Game 6 to take down Colorado 2-1 in OT and earn a Western Conference Final bid. The Stars now have the shortest Stanley Cup odds.

Panthers (+240 via bet365)

In the battle of the Sunshine State, the Panthers made quick work of the Tampa Bay Lightning in the opening round of the NHL playoffs. Knocking off Tampa in five games, shot Florida to the top of the Stanley Cup oddsboard.

They only reaffirmed their position after taking a 3-1 lead over the Bruins in the second round, but a slip up in Game 5 gave Boston a chance. However, Florida won 2-1 on Friday night to take the series. Yet, Dallas surpassed Florida in the Stanley Cup odds.

Rangers (+360 via DraftKings)

The Rangers had vaulted to the top of the oddsboard by opening the second round with three straight victories over the Hurricanes but slipped behind Florida and Dallas when they struggled to complete the sweep or even get past Carolina in Game 5.

New York became the first team to advance to a conference final by finally sealing the deal in Game 6, and it now awaits the winner of Florida vs. Boston to find out which opponent will next have to deal with its physical game and adept offense.

How to read Stanley Cup odds

Stanley Cup odds reflect the probability of each NHL team winning the championship and are typically presented in American odds format (+XXX). Lower odds signify favoritism, while higher odds indicate underdog status.

A team with +750 odds to win the Stanley Cup is given an 11.76% implied probability of doing so with a $10 bet returning a $75 profit with a victory. A team with +1500 odds would have higher or longer odds, and a lower implied probability of 6.25%, but a win on a $10 bet would return a profit of $150.

Bettors should consider team performance, roster strength, injuries, and historical trends when assessing odds. By comparing odds across sportsbooks, individuals can make informed betting decisions during the NHL playoffs.
